February 2011 Card Group Projects

Today was our card group get together and these are the cards the ladies made.  I did design three cards for the group to make but we didn't have time to make all three so that one will be carried forward to a future group get together.  Old school stuff today with some rock and roll thrown in!  Stamping, heat embossing and cutting out.  I didn't even take my Big Shot today as we didn't use Nesties * gasp *  We used a Sizzix Decorative Strip die so I just took my little Sidekick machine.

First up is a One of a Kind card using a clear Hero Arts set.  The side opening A6 card was made with SU! Confetti White CS and the edges were sponged with Old Olive ink.  The stems were stamped first in Pear Pizzazz ink and then again in Old Olive ink.  The blue flowers were inked in Baja Breeze and then rock and rolled in Not Quite Navy and the one of a kind flower was inked with Perfect Plum and then rock and rolled in Elegant Eggplant.  The flowers were cut out and a bit of dimension was added by cutting into the petals and spiralling an embossing stylus in the centre of each flower.  Crystal glitter was added to the flower centres.  A punched butterfly with a gem was added to the purple flower.  The blue flowers were popped up with glue dots but I popped up the purple flower with a thicker 3d foam pad so it stands out more.  For the sentiment, we used the SU! plain oval punch.  The Confetti White oval was layered over two Baja Breeze ovals that had been trimmed.

Up next is a get well card made with SU! Crumb Cake CS.  I cut off 1/2" from the right hand side and added the Rose Red die cut scalloped border and Old Olive strip.  The doily was stamped in VersaMark and heat embossed with white embossing powder.  The speckles were stamped with a background stamp inked with Crumb Cake.  The flower and leaves image is a stamp from an unknown source, I bought the unmounted set from a friend after she'd had a clear out.  I stamped the image a few times so I could pop up a flower over the top and add two flowers and a leaf to the top right of the doily.  The leaf is glued down but the two flowers are popped up.  I thought this would make a good get well card so that's the sentiment I used but I did take a variety of sentiments so the ladies had a choice.
